Flea Market

I met Death
When I was quite a young man
Years before 'man'
Would be accurate to anyone else's eyes
I wasn't scared
Or if that's not true fear didn't stick
I just waved
Warily
He smiled, I suppose
Hard to tell
And said without words
"Don't worry.
You will see me again.
Don't worry
When you do."

Counterintuitively
The encounter was comforting
Knowing someone unexpected
Is watching out
And it won't be an accident.

Inevitability can mean certainty
Which is universally sought.

Isn't it?
