Lesser-ish poems

had i known the opposite

                     attractions

                  contraptions

               reactions

  had i read between

       the lines

   or sat on the

             edge of lunacy,

i may have understood you

    i may have heard my

          future heartbeat

       may have felt the flames

  lapping hard at the door

may have seen the crimson

                   drips spread

but this is still the past, babe,

    barely in the present

       could be now

            before we realize it

if we were simply shadows,

   frames without soul,

life would never flux

          no turning of tides

                or heads

                  or cheeks

no fleshy touches     no fluttering lids

your conscience is the kind that talks

heart on your sleeve again, darlin!

cap the flame,

        wash the wounds,

             let watered-down red flow

   batter the streets below

    with bullet-like drops
