A SIGH FROM USELESS MOUTH

Immobilized by the stroke,

She sighs from useless mouth

Her eyes quietly quizzical

Of where time has flown,

Flown the coop as a parakeet

Escaping through an open door,

She having left heavy footprints

While I leave footprints only in the sense

Of a cat walking on soft, shifting sand.
