Even the American Presidency
can be stripped of its dignity,
can be treated as a commodity,
an investment in personal perfidy,
and a distinc lack of morality
in the pursuit of fame and profitability,
and attention wrongfully desired.
To whom should such calumny be assigned:
well, the number forty-five comes to mind
(and let us pray to Holy God in His High Heaven,
that forty-five does not become forty-seven);
forty-five, to whom the electorate's majority,
declared---with a resoundingly
loud voice, and unmistakenly heard
across the annals of History---
to that dastardly devil,
