To My Mother

My mother has always told me to face the world with a smile,

and the anger of your peers will disappear in a while.

She told me to be careless,

she told me to be bold.

She told me others learn from you so be a sight to behold.

And even though I am still young,

my life is growing old,

but my mother lives in youth and rejoices at the soul.

When I am growing older,

the sum of all my fears,

I will still hear those words like whispers to my ears.
