Superstition

Folder:
Palukulu

An unusual practice

of the family of priests

to see who is coming

or what is crossing

before one enters

the streets.

A cow, it is all holy.

A cat, the devil may descend.

A married woman may bring

money into the ring

whereas a widow could cast

shadows on future very fast.

A ghotaka brahmachari -

the boy bachelor, pure

in his thoughts - is a ladder

to heavens for sure.

Grandmother believed

and, crossing her paths

everyday, I believed.
