It was just after five

A late afternoon

We shot around the bends

Burning off our time

Cracks in our eyes

Haze in our lungs

Wasting our youth

Without anywhere to be

My pocket was shaking

Calling out my name

I could hardly see

Or feel the sensation

I reached and I clawed

For the buzz on my leg

I coughed once or twice

And dragged it to my ear

The tone was joyous

And full of love and praise

I could only ignore it

And continue carrying on

It had to be a fluke

I've told myself by now

Luck was on my side

But the cash was on its way

I belched like a dragon

And took another turn

Laughing off the tension

While I stared straight ahead

It wasn't a big deal

Nothing too important

I had stolen it from somebody

Without really even trying.
