Mental Health Day

A lazy glaze subdued my face

Staring straight at a stoner's pace

Watching the mobiles inching along

Continuing the search for where they belong

I suppose you could say I watched the transition of day

From a parking lot two thousand miles away

Scorched here or there but overall my time was fair

With the rising sun to decide the when and the where

I met a friend when the four hours had faded

On the blacktop is where the concerns were stated

We wasted breath and talked without thought

I recalled a dead-end chance and what it had brought

Literary speak for the first time in years

With a headphone symphony ringing in my ears

I looked without a clue to the future at risk

I returned to Earth and clenched both of my fists

The day and its generosity are coming to a close

I'm well on my way to avoiding the life I chose

Green lights are flashing and all we can do is wait

For our signal finale is about to initiate
