May 25

A dream Lebanon waited for,

Was a day somewhat not expected

For then we became protected

It’s a dream no one could ignore

The sad memories from the past

Knowing that now we’re free

It was truly meant to be

It passed by suddenly fast.

Refreshing memories of the past

Noticing they were too tough

And that we have had enough

From the things that had passed

Everyone gathered to celebrate the day,

People stayed up the night

Until the early morning light

Hoping someday they will pay

Author's Notes/Comments:

May 25, the year of 2000 is when Israel got out of Lebanon.  All the Lebanese were waiting for that day to come, and when it came everyone celebrated it.  This poem shows how much that day meant to me, because of the things I had to go through in my childhood in Lebanon and how much I have been waiting for this day to come so all the suffering won’t be happening anymore in Lebanon.
