Drunk
He stumbled out of the bar
After too much to drink
He went to his car
Too drunk to think
He started down the street
Only wanting to get home fast
Who knew tonight
Would be someone’s last?
On the other side of town
She was getting into her VW car
She was really glad
Her dad’s house wasn’t too far
She turned on the radio
To her favorite song
She began to get excited
She hadn’t seen daddy in so long
With his little Ford Bronco
Picking up speed
He took out his pipe
To smoke a little weed
Good thing the road was empty
Not a car in sight
Because the way he was driving
Could put out a fright
As she went down the road
She fought back sleep
She said she’d be safe
A promise she must keep
Up ahead in the distance
She saw a truck in her lane
She tried to move quickly
For the driver was insane
There was no way to avoid it
He was too far gone
He sped up faster
And they hit head on
The ambulance got there
And took them away
He then wondered if
He’d see another day
As he lay there dying
He knew of his fate
He knew he was wrong
But it was too late
He had killed a person
Because he was dumb
Who knew this would happen
After a night of fun
He told the nurse
He was sorry for what he did
“Tell the parents
I am sorry I killed their kid”
The nurse started crying
Knowing she could follow through
For he had killed his child
And this could be you
