Engagement ring

In my car together we would sing,
Every verse, and every part.
In my arms, and in your driveway we would linger.
Every message from you my phone would ring.
I finally have your heart.
Promises we kept with a pinky finger.

I hush your lips with an index finger,
When you would sing.
I kiss you, and touch your heart.
Our lips never wanted to part.
"I love you" in our kiss would ring.
Your sweet taste would linger.

In my bed you would linger,
With the rose gold, princess cut engagement ring hugging your finger.
Every night for you I would sing.
I thought we would never part.
Dreams of marriage in our heart.

But you took back your heart.
No longer did you linger.
In December we did part.
You removed the ring from your finger.
No longer in church together we would sing.
That day you gave back the engagement ring.

In my hand I held that ring,
And a broken heart.
The angels no longer sing.
Alone in my cold room I linger,
With the ring no longer wrapped around your finger.
I kiss you one last time, we part.

The end to this part.
I still have that ring,
To someday once again put on your finger.
Come back into my heart.
Your memories still linger.
Alone in church I sing.

I sing every part.
You linger, and your words ring.
You took back your heart,
And removed the ring on your finger.
