Sons and Fathers

Sons and Fathers the story goes,

The experience much the same;

The good and bad who better knows

When struggling to uphold a name.

A deeper love there’ll never be,

That bond at birth, of God’s delight,

But ever steeped in tragedy;

Sons and Fathers what’s wrong and right?

For seen I have upon the lap

Then a teenager to a man;

Yes, near and far within the gap

Ever chasing a different plan.

Some they get it and some they don’t,

The ties that bind and how we bond;

For Sons and Fathers will and won’t

And the tragedy goes beyond.

But peace it comes to all of us

When boys to men the good and bad;

And those of you who’ve missed the bus

Need to know I miss my Dad.
