Crystal Ball

Folder:
Unpublished pieces

The celebration was about to begin,
we were gathering around the crystal ball.
Fireworks gained a new defence
It was evening, and the friends
were required to drop their disguises.
Twelve people held sway till midnight
when the New Years dance would begin.
Like the crowd in the streets of Toronto,
everything but the champagne would
be flowing from their veins
Nathan Phillips Square might be the centre
of the leading city of sin;
but our celebration would not suffer
from the noise makers of desire.
Like a family we learned to hate
each and every member of our circle,
gathered in fellowship, but for the
disdain in their eyes for each other.
