Yes, he said 'I love you'
And he didn't mean it.
I didn't say 'I love you'
But I really meant it.
Sure. Now we are apart
And just who is to blame?
Well, he never did love me
So excuses are lame.
He burned my love and trust.
They ignited and fried,
So I'm glad I couldn't say
The words before they died.
Now I am more cautious.
I don't listen to words.
It's the deeds that I watch for,
'Cos words are for the birds.
