Hindsight

You never made me feel special.

No, you never even tried.

As the only man in my life

It's small wonder our love died.

So, in a sense, in innocence

Is where our life then foundered.

Had I had some experience

It would never have floundered

For I soon would have realized

Your love was not love at all.

My purity was much abused

Where was that old crystal ball?

I wish I had known that heart ache,

Misery and disaccord

Would for evermore be my life

And could not be just ignored.
