Between banners our heart endures; between heartbeats and throbs;
Between our teeth is the tongue that whispers avowed intentions
Of the inner workings of our love’s seeking fuller containments.
Even laments of sorrow resolves itself in a purer form, embracing
Ascending angels taking us beyond sad duration. We have between
Us interminable space longing for inwardness of our love.
But, oh how alien are streets of grief-stricken cities of cacophony;
Choked din; false silence, louder noises muffling cries of desolation.
Our love tramples out empty spaces of untasted bliss-between us.
Between us, churches are without sacraments of our bread and wine;
Empty offices on Sunday with mail dispatched to far away countries
Do not contain as much space nor is air transfer fleet as our love.
Between us and highway advertisements dotting so many byways
In need of such advertising; between us is silent space with no need
For any beckoning, signaling, embellishments or gaudy enticements.
Here in a valley of forgetfulness, elders attend questions of youth
Driven by narcissism; “What is there between older folk?” “Between
Us they say, “Forgotten spaces yen for ambrosia of immortal love.”
Love between us will outlast Sphinx gazes to the stars and there
Will be buoyancy between spaces of jugglers and only holy fools
With enigmatic smiles will sense the bliss driven wind between us.
Even a gorge of death between us will shimmer in moonlight and
Forgottens will find a way between heaven and earth; between us,
Scrolls of forgotten parchment will proclaim such a love between us.
