Her Ineffable Softness

Did you ever notice how she came to you with querying notes,
though silent as a thrush and with mounting stillness; aroused in
your emboldened passion with nothing but the hush of her breath.

It was in that springtime that led up to the temple of our future;
the seasons rose in you as a fountain, lifting, rising to cascade
in a contest of promises, that bade meaning in future summers.

Not only in dawns of summer but in sunsets on meadows in
summer where golden rays kiss eastern and western horizons; as this

marked her coming to you with the most exquisite softness.

Her being with you is noiseless living of beauty of unfolding rose
petals endlessly opening without a murmur; also, feeling arises
of petals touching petals, arousing a frictionless silkiness.

Each petal opening so softly like revealing eyelids closed
as if to dampen down the harshness of uncaring worldly glares;
as a sieve to filter out myriad skies for a modicum of darkness.

Such is the ineffable softness of her unfolding petals; though it
uncloaks some burden forgotten; it acts as raiment, a mask, or
whatever necessary when shed for a lover needing softness.
