Not Quite
In Virginia Beach where I lived
for over five years there was a
business called Almost a Bank.
No one would go to Almost a
Dentist or perform something
that was not quite fininshed.
We all look for fullness and
satiety and strive for a full
measure of success.
Not quite innocent means you
had your hand in something
that went afoul.
Perhaps there is a darkness where
incipient dawns never quite make
the light of day.
Not quite victorious is when we will
have to meet our enemy yet once
again to vanquish or be vanquished.
I once thought I knew you but when
we separated I realized there indeed
was “a not quite” zone.
