A Blossoming Beginning

There was something about you I saw, something I felt

So new and fresh

The first day my painful blue eyes looked in your direction.

Years and years of let downs, hurtfulness.

Puddles of sad, tired tears seemed to soak and disappear

The very instant you smiled my way.

We could laugh together

You and I, for hours a time

I loved your presence

Two lonely strangers

As we were, soon

Blossomed into a secret beautiful friendship

Continuing to share our personal pasts, desires and dreams…

You did an almost impossible thing

I swear it’s true.
Through everything you told me

With every smile, giggle, encouraging word…you cleared my blurry vision

No longer was I frightened by strangers nor too timid to get close

You showed me how to allow trust into my life again

You taught me it was important to be loved and give love

From the very start you opened a space inside me for a new beginning.

Just as a wilting rose peddle, I needed some light and nourishing to help me

Your warming smile, the glow in your strong eyes

Healed me

On Valentine’s Day, my dear friend,

I want you to know that I love you
