Another Mass Shooting? Another Second Amender Enjoying His Constitutional Right
Another mass shooting . . . in Lewiston, Maine? Sixteen dead, and many others wounded? And the shooter was armed with an assault weapon. An assault weapon; a weapon designed, manufactured, and marketed to perform an assault.
When will our elected idiots in Congress stop kissing the asses of the second amenders and enact a sweeping gun control law that will empower the second amendment to enforce its first phrase . . . a well-regulated militia.
And the argument that guns don't kill people, people kill people fails here. Weapons of mass assault kill victims of mass shooters. Yes, I know people can kill people by braining somebody over the head with a pickle jar, or smothering them with a throw pillow. But there are no pickle jars or throw pillars that are designed, manufactured, and marketed to perform mass assault. Assault weapons, by their very name, admit their use and proclaim their lethal capability.
The Founding Fathers were not infallible. They kissed the asses of the slaveholding rich instead of addressing that heinous practice early and thoroughly. (An Illinois railroad lawyer finally had to do that; and look what happened to him---blow away by another gun nut.) They should have restricted, and heavily restricted, the use of arms. And our elected idiots---some of whom have only just now been able to elect a Speaker---continue to bend over before the second amenders rather than standing up to them.
Sixteen people murdered; numerous victims wounded: are we to be proud of the second amendment in the light of this? They were murdered by person armed with an assault weapon. Why can't we wake up and strip the second amenders of their right to possess, purchase, trade, and murder innocent people with assault weapons?
