Yet [*/+/^] : 27.225 MHz, Some Final Measures; A Poem Obedient To 1 Peter 3:15

. . . be ready always to give an answer to every man

that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you . . .

---1 Peter 3:16

Lord, I rejoice in the way You are reviving

the soul in me; glad to feel this stirring

(though I do not know yet, to entirety,

all of that to which it is referring).

Yet is it proof of Your merciful design

to overcome that which is mean and malign

within me---whom You privileged to receive

Your greatest gift of assured Salvation

because, having heard the Gospel, I believed

from that first day and continue to believe;

I had who been previously deceived

by the tempter.  My soul's chief exultation

shall be the Gospel that Jesus loves me,

Christ, Who died and rose again for my thriving.

Author's Notes/Comments:

In writing this, I used both past and present tense, intentionally.  Salvation is both a past event to be experienced, as I did on January 9th, 1994 (to which the tenth line alludes), and an ongoing process---and the awareness of this ongoing process is evidence of the existence and direction of one's Salvation.   The doubts and conflicts cast upon us by the Tempter and by the evil system that encircles this world like a cloud of pollution can neither break nor wrest from us the validity of the Salvation we receive upon first believing (cf. Romans 13:11).
