Lord Jesus, I feel the dearth and poverty

that defines---and has always defined---my spirituality:

but I rejoice to confess this, as in this poem expressed,

for You have said that the poor in spirit are and shall be blessed.

You have answered the need I feel with assurance of Salvation

that cannot be compromised by despair, fault and flaw, and temptation.

To eternal life in Your Kingdom you have called even such as me;

and though decidedly minor, I offer this Poetry

in gratitude to You for Your Gospel---my soul's chief exultation.
