Some Of The Puritan Christians Censored Shakespeare

Some of the Puritan Christians censored Shakespeare's

plays---because they considered them somewhat dirty;

especially those long-haired boy players---their legs sheathed in

stockings, their smiles wanton, their faces "purty."

Looking at them with lusts bestirred the puritans breathed in

the fragrance of their own lusts and horrified fears.

They declared that, staged, these plays were just pornographies

although the texts are taught in universities

now, and even sometimes (oh, God!) in high schools.

Who in the heck decides upon these rules?

Author's Notes/Comments:

I can only imagine what they thought of some of the young men who first presented "Juliet" on the stage.
