What The Nosferatu Heard During The Disconstellated Night

Spiders dance across the calliope's

bank of yellowing, barely functional keys:

eight-legged, their complex choreographies

bring sound to the nosferatu, on rotted ears:

that damned, bloodthirsty spawn of Belial

listening, carefully and in full,

before the play on chosen victims' fears.

Author's Notes/Comments:

The attribution to Belial was made by Henrik Galeen in his screenplay for Nosferatu, 1922.
