@ 27.055 MHz: Ad Astra; At The Onset Of Adolescence, Early Summer, 1971

Before you and I understood the nuances and niceties

that were, then, associated, with Homosexuality's

sometimes rather obscure mysteries:

we understood that barefoot and shirtless were metonomies

for the coupling and pleasures that are intimacy's.

Regardless of old prudes' prejudice and haters' thuggeries,

nothing could wrest this inclination from our souls.

Friends since kindegarten . . . now we felt Desire's most exquisite pulls.

Author's Notes/Comments:

Early adolescence was confusing to us (although the Boy Scout Handbook, which I had retained after my parents allowed me to resign on June 7th, 1971, did allude to obtaining knowledge of the process of self-pleasure).  This poem is for young males at the onset of adolescence:  getting shirtless and barefoot helps . . . a lot.
