A Child's Cry

Folder:
slightly old poems

A little boy sat by the street

In the muddy grey snow

The wind howled as he sat on his feet

His tiny body deadly cold

Tears streaked his dirty brown face

His jaw trembled as he struggled to breath

He held himself around the waist

His thin coat hid the scars from underneath

The black hair upon his head

Covered his lonely scared eyes

His lips and hands were numb and red

No one seemed to hear his cries

A man yelled and hit him on his head

The boy stood to his rag bundled feet

“Get outta here you street rat!” the man angrily said

He flinched and stumbled across the street

He closed his eyes and a tear flowed down his cheek

He could no longer feel his tiny feet

His small heart seemed to beat in his ears

And tonight it is God he will meet
