Person or Persona

You’ve had far too much time to contemplate

The benefits of uniformity.

How well has it served to approximate

Somebody else’s bland conformity?

The same color painted with the same brush –

Overdone, clearly, in the broadest strokes.

You and your army burst forth in a rush,

Oblivious. You’re the butt of our jokes,

Tripping over each other left and right –

Your pedestal’s high, but hollow inside.

Before it crumbles beneath you, hold tight –

I’ll bring a ladder, save you from your pride.

Just what in the hell are you thinking of?

Are you a person or persona, love?
