Dropping Anchor

The temptation is great, that much is now clear –

You see still waters and stake your claim.

Whether out of compromise or out of fear

The outcome, my dear, will be the same.

The clouds may serenely swirl,

The waters may be emerald green,

Yet that calm could start to whirl

As nature’s elements convene.

Never settle for the postcard picture –

You should certainly know that by now.

Agreeing to be a constant fixture

Grants more power than you should allow.

Sail far and away until the answers become clear –

Resist what could be empty charms. Don’t drop anchor here.
