I’ll Remember You

The rhythm and melody did not fit –

Sweet music never quite came to our ears –

But you won’t hear me say I regret it

In spite of time passing and all the tears.

We each have our share of broken places

That I in my innocence tried to mend,

But through it all we had warm embraces

And perfect nights I hoped would never end.

Should there come a day many years from now

When the loves of my life come passing through,

Despite what memory may not allow

You can rest assured I’ll remember you.

You’re etched in my heart just where I can see

Making you forever a part of me.
