That Old Hotel Room

You should have taken me years ago,

Secreting me away to paradise,

Our bodies cradled in the afterglow,

Torching the walls between virtue and vice.

Same desk clerk, same rickety ice machine…

Take me back to when I was just 18.

Ravage me at once behind a locked door.

Wet these aching buds till at last they bloom.

We both know I deserve all that and more

When starlight sweeps through that old hotel room.

You burdened me with a ponderous wait,

Studying sands through a thick hourglass.

I winced as you attempted tricking fate,

Hope against hope this night would come to pass.

Let your true nature win out in the end.

Check in with me while time is still our friend...

Ravage me at once behind a locked door.

Wet these aching buds till at last they bloom.

We both know I deserve all that and more

When starlight sweeps through that old hotel room.
