My Dance Floor

Did no one say “You’re welcome here”

When an act of kindness would have meant the world?

That was then – there's nothing to fear

As my humble banner is at last unfurled.

There’s a space for you, and you, and you.

It’s yours to have and long overdue.

I remember wind in my face,

Being cast away behind a locked door.

Times have changed – I’ve saved you a place.

You’ll always be welcome on my dance floor.

No cruelty is welcome here.

Put down your armor and take a chance.

Forget the ones who smirk and sneer.

Make your own music. Start your own dance.

It is my honor to celebrate you

And in due time you’ll feel the same way, too.

I remember wind in my face,

Being cast away behind a locked door.

Times have changed – I’ve saved you a place.

You’ll always be welcome on my dance floor.
