Every Song

Who am I to think I can walk away

When your melodies overtake my soul?

I need you by my side just one more day

To wrap me in your arms and make me whole.

We always come back together again,

Achingly perched on the boundary of bliss,

Bluebirds serenading the lion’s den

Making pure rapture on the precipice.

With one intoxicating turn of phrase

I’m drunk on all our glittering glories.

I’d gladly put you on repeat for days,

Swept out on the tide of your old stories.

There’s so much to live for and yet I’m blue –

What awaits me when every song is you?
