Build My World

Sour candy lights line the periphery
Aglow and alive as far as eyes can see,
Chiseled precisely to elicit and excite,
Manipulate the senses through distressed delight.
You ask me to join in the glasses clinking
As I sit here apart in my corner thinking –
When you place yourself in my path I always stumble,
So if I build my world around you it’s sure to crumble.
I grab my things and I leave this place
Stubborn and alone and full of grace.
