Your Lover Tonight

I’m back by popular demand
‘Cuz I’m popular with you,
Stroking chords on your baby grand
To makes your senses come to.

We’ve never cared where darkness falls
As long as it always breaks through.
Before long tension cracks the walls,
A symphony of me and you.

Ours is a glittering history -
I know you like the back of my hand -
Yet part of you stays a mystery,
A prospect for which I hadn’t planned.

But you’re the only one who warms me
When the world turns cold,
So if emotion misinforms me
I’ll still do as told.

And as the hours amble away,
Keeping time ‘till that first thread of light,
Leaving tomorrow’s worries at bay,
Who else could be your lover tonight?
