What They Never Tell You

The difficulties with which we've been tasked

Are cause enough to wander,
But all the questions you still haven't asked
Would serve you well to ponder.
Take it from me, years may go by
Before you begin to approximate the truth.
I promise you the time will fly
With the gradual unraveling of your youth.
People and places you counted on will soon disappear,
Altering the landscape of the life you know.
You'll either be destroyed by the impact or face your fear -
The latter is painful, but oh how you'll grow...
Existence can be highly cruel.
Living it is a kind of duel.
I'm in the thick of it so I can see...
All I can truly depend on is me.
