What the Heart Wants

The way the walls summarily close in,

Gently taking us up inside.
It seems the fates, as they are, always win –
They’re the ones who get to decide.
And as you once again take hold of me,
The numbers crunching beyond question,
I propose more kisses and you agree
It’s by far the soundest suggestion.
Everything fits like puzzle pieces
Gingerly slipping into place.
As our collective pulse increases
It seems we came to this by grace.
You. Me. Looking into each other’s eyes…
I don’t see how you could fail to realize
We could teach a lesson in what the heart wants.
