Kiss Away the Pain

I see it in the actions you avoid,

I hear it in between the things you say.
You may think part of you is long-destroyed,
But I'll prove you wrong by the light of day.

Angels come in all shapes and sizes.
Some even hide among the human race.
You'll know it's true as the sun rises,
Its warm, friendly rays outlining my face.

There is far too much that can't be undone.
We're walking carriers of scabs and scars.
I'll soothe them all, show you you're far from done.
We've earned these quiet moments – they're all ours.

I'm never fooled as you try to laugh through your pain.
I'm here to alleviate it with my kiss.
I'll never turn my back, leave you out in the rain.
Come, take my hand love. Let's journey into this.
