I Deserve Flowers

Uniformly the first to criticize
I had written myself out most cruelly,
Cutting my lines as I failed to realize
My actions were performed most unduly.
I did not see that personal freedom

Could lead to such dismal aberrations.
I see intellect does not mean wisdom
And that the former has limitations.
Now I have returned, my senses heightened,
And what floods them is a new sensation –
The red of my cheeks is sweetly brightened
As I clasp a new floral creation.
I press the petals between the pages
And hope their fragrance will last for ages.
