It's for You

I planned this place as a trap for my foes,

Doors opening to a thousand-foot drop.

Just when the change befell me no one knows,

But your example made my vengeance stop.

Kindness is greater than retribution –

What a valuable lesson you’ve taught me.

You’ve more than made your own contribution,

Filling this brittle heart with clemency.

Old halls of darkness now sparkle and glow,

Resentment and hatred replaced with love.

The doors which once led to pavement below

Now reveal a secret garden above –

I’ve built a heaven where dreams can come true.

Can’t you hear me knocking, dear? It’s for you.
