Eagle Through My Eyes

With economy I hold my head high

Recalling the peaks and valleys I've seen.

I can spread my wings and take to the sky

Revisiting them and spaces between.

What has befallen this heart, I must say,

Finds it racing hard in the dark of night.

Has it found in you another byway

That will puncture it, give me need for flight?

I'll lose for certain if I take no chance.

A moment's pause and I gallantly rise.

My path holds a mirror to this expanse

With once again an eagle through my eyes.

I’ll rest my talons in the nest we weave

Knowing if I must I can take my leave.
