Life Without You

I could drive down to those coastal towns
With the music blaring, the top down
To linger wistfully along the sand.
I could pursue beauty, let nature take course -
A conquistador riding high on a horse
To make that leap over the Rio Grande,
But I couldn't imagine life without you.
One look at you and I wish I were new,
Experiencing life for the first time again.
How sad it can only be "remember when."

Author's Notes/Comments:

“Life Without You” was written in late August 2007 and a last-minute addition to the collection “Not a Household Name,” released that August 30. It was a rare moment of insight and clear understanding that would lead to more in the years to come. I will not say of whom it was written.
