Years

I told myself not to worry.
Why insist on such a hurry?
Savor the moments as they come to pass
For no matter what happens they will not last.
Instead of succumbing to setbacks
Try to steady yourself and relax.
Be content to await another day
And soon all you dream of will come your way.

But it's been years.
It's been years.

You told me all is open and free
And that this should serve to comfort me.
Smile brightly, stand in firm belief.
Sooner than later you will find relief.
Fate will wipe his shoes on your welcome mat,
Felicity will follow tit for tat.
Goodness and love bring equal portions of,
Remember that and see no lack thereof.

But it's been years.
It's been years.
