10. Circus

When I feel it surround me I know I’m alive.

The bearded lady gets to know me well

As I’m cast in the role of the juggler.

It’s so much safer to retreat inside

But only out in the madness can I truly thrive.

I’ll walk the high wire and look down below

At the millions of faces watching the show.

If that’s what it takes let it be so.

I’ll sweet talk the sword-swallower

Even if gets me a pie in the face

So what if she rejects me?

I quite enjoy a whip cream embrace.

I’ve made the choice and I must see it through

There’s so much more living for me to do

In the cold morning chill of this circus
