Open Your Eyes

I knew you long before I knew myself,
An ever-constant I can't seem to shake.
I learned from your great callousness and stealth,
Your always choosing to remain opaque –
Thus how the story continues to write.
Comforts of life you must be deprived of,
The void drops you deeper into your plight.
If you're asking me, all you need is love
To soothe and mend those bruises and scrapes,
Throw open the curtains and see the light.
Between us should be no bitter grapes,
No reason to scare and take sudden flight.
Let me, and I'll see you through your cries –
It's so easy to open your eyes.
