Unfulfilled

I've memorized things I've already forgotten
While feeling nothing short of rotten,
For I knew all the while I was toiling
That the water in the pot was boiling,
Yet I was not allowed to turn  down the heat –
Just forced to sit on a button - 'repeat' - 'repeat.'
What a shame it was when I realized
All that time I'd simply idealized.
You have done nothing but make me juggle
Facts and figures in a constant struggle
With no articulacy in the slightest sense
As to how this would help in the long run,
Expelling me here with hatred immense, intense,
My passion irrevocably undone.
You have left me acutely unfulfilled
With an entire city to rebuild.
