I Will Wait for You

This you should not have to ask me.
No one has been permitted your access –
Only you've been given the key,
And you came forth with resounding success.
Neither faith nor endurance has failed me –
I look out at the waves fully assured,
Pacing the widow's walk with irony
In belief your return will be secured.
Time moves, but my stance is unwavering –
Your sail will one day pierce the panorama –
My hands trembling, my voice quavering,
A scene will unfold for the Cinerama.
It is nothing I ever longed to do
But it is certain I will wait for you.
