New Memories

You say "I don't do that anymore,
Those days are long behind me."
It's a time of year you've no use for,
Better I just let it be.
Well, I too know the pain of Christmases past,
Rooms full of faces no longer here,
Those things we were sure would last that didn't last
Despite our having held them so dear.
That chapter may be closed, but the present is before us,
And here I am holding out my hand.
Please come now and join me. Can't you hear that joyful chorus?
I insist that you do - I demand!
We will endure. Whatever the weather
We will make new memories together.
