Murder In The Mansion

Dark thoughts will prosper
Negligence will foster
You've turned into a monster
It's not a surprise you lost her

We'll never understand
What you seemed to have planned
We could count every grain of sand
And still not know where you would land

We can't recreate the time
Or imagine the reasons to your rhyme

It all fell apart
You were crooked from the start

Feed desire
And call us the liar
The consequences were dire
And we were none the wiser

Give into the notion
That you ran out of that motion
Like a boat sunk in the ocean
And you were never to be found again

Insanity took your form
And though you blew away from the storm
Like a bee in a swarm
The message began to transform

They said you were forewarned
They painted you horned
And so many mourned
We left it as scorned

Time is of essence
You made your own obsolescence

I pity the weak
It's all we can seek
Hidden in the widow's peak

This tale you devise
Takes your own demise
And there is no disguise
Through torturous eyes

Take this evidence away
No longer to be seen today
The scars will wash it away
But there's still little time to say

What we have to lose
We're not meant to choose

The poison taken in a single dose
And explanation sounds too verbose

To remember the triad of steps you took
So easy to overlook

You made it seem almost too easy
It almost makes you seem a bit sleazy

The cards will soon unfold
And we'll realize what's been told
But the price has been sold
And we guess you've finally found your pot of gold

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is a complicated poem to truly grasp, but I wanted to write something mysterious that would be easy for me to rhyme almost every word. I think it came out pretty great.
