Carry On

Poems About Life

It's been like this for a long time
Couldn't tell you when it all started
But my life's never been perfect
And it seems the older I get
The more pain I feel
I miss the days when I was a child
When it seemed so easy
But I remember none of it
And yet I still carry on
All this that I hold in my heart
All the pain from the past
The anger burning deep down
I can't even explain where it all comes from
Or where it all began
But can you tell me this?
Haven't you ever felt the whole world on your shoulders?
So how can you get mad at me?
I'm only human, that's how it will always be
Don't blame me when I snap at you
And don't walk away when I cry
You don't know what I've been through
You don't know what I hold deep inside
But still you always see me
Continue to carry on
Mystery in the eyes of innocence
Shadows lay on my heavy heart
And not one tear shed before you
I'm not to blame
And it's no one's fault
But if the ones you love hurt you
You just keep carrying on
Forget the ones who want to see you fall
It's not worth your time
Life is meant to be broken when you need it
Because you always come back to the top
And what goes up must come down
But you just need to carry on

Author's Notes/Comments:

This is about strength and overcoming the everyday obstacles we face in life to achieve happiness. To me, that's all life is about and all anyone wants, is to achieve happiness. That's why we live to the fullest and do what we want without caring what others think or letting it affect us. Even the saddest of people can find something happy in life and the reason is because they're positive and have the wisdom and experience of knowing that you have to feel and know the bad things before you can really appreciate the good things.
