"Yesteryear Dreams"
Lost deep in my conscious are these thoughts I have
Of what I wanted to become
All the dreams of yesteryear
All distant yet so clear
What happened along the way?
Why am I not living one of them today?
Have I forgotten how easy it seemed back then?
Have I seen too much to know what might have been?
Is only a dream that is impossible to achieve
Even after all those talks about “If you only believe.”
To think that people are that naive.
I tried to do what everyone wanted
And today I’m left with my failures, haunted
By a reality I know too well
If only I could break this spell
I would like to try to achieve
Just one dream I believe
The one where I succeed
Without being held by greed
To help others in need
To live those dreams of yesteryear
